There's never been any need for expensive programs and subscriptions in order to get rid of parasite ads and evil sites. It's been there all along but you've probably never updated it.
Now you can easily protect yourself from many major annoyances.
This file will download the latest bad hosts block list from http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt and replace your current hosts file at %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
A backup is made at %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.BAK
This will very effectively render most ads and tracking sites such as google's urchin null.
You may see a "not found" message in place of ads on some sites but at least you won't be just another tool for all the invasive advertising scumbags and google statisticians. And you'll probably see web pages load a lot faster too. |
